The label MAISONNOÉE was founded two years ago by designer Sophie Böhmert, a graduate from ESMOD Berlin International University of Art for Fashion. This year, the young designer presented a clash of female fragility and strength at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin.

The absolute fashion week trend pieces, the turtleneck and the pleated skirt – not lacking in Maisonnoée’s autumn/winter collection – were combined with floor length-pencil skirts, flared trousers and short tops. In addition, there were coats with different coloured seams and yokes, leather pants and loose-fitting sleeves in some of the tops.

The focus of the collection was clearly on black nappa leather, which has been masterly combined with some knitting and monochrome colours. Blue first, then red and at the end some olive pieces were to see as well. The designer’s ambitions were apparent in her leatherwork, as the process is a tad more complex with this material than with many other ones. Extreme close-fitting high-waist parts emphasized the hourglass silhouettes, and some of the skirts were so tight that the models minced in small steps down the catwalk.

And although the use of black and leather in fashion is often associated with strong women, the models seemed petite, almost a little fragile. However, the use of red gave the collection a certain contrast, while demonstrating a seductive and sensual touch.
