The Mercedes-Benz-Fashion Week Berlin was opened today by the show of dutch designer label AVELON, which had originally been a part of the denim label Blue Blood. Since 2010 fashion designer Erik Frenken does his own thing and he does it very well. For Spring/Summer 2017 the new line still remained true to his favorite colour, black, and his love for the use of observable details.
In 2008 Frenken started as Design Director for Avelon and in 2010 he took over the brand to develop and extend the women’s and men’s collections. Next to casual wide women-shirts and graceful jackets, he found his own way to connect trend pieces like blousons and transparent skirts with his very own signature on dresses, shirts and trousers, made from cotton and silk. And the collection promised floor-length flared pants with pleats to have a great comeback in the next season. Avelon created a directional and no-season look for every occasion, in which the connection to the colour black was still clear to see. Different shades of grey and bright reds were added to complete the looks.

Erik Frenken always combines luxury garments with rough edges and delicate elements. Here, big ruffles were incorporated everywhere - on sleeves, sleeve seams, cuffs, yokes and plackets. It is the attention to those details that rounded off his spring/summer collection.
And if you are the first to show up at Fashion Week, you have to wake up the audience. Avelon did that!
