FYODOR GOLAN presented their Autumn/Winter 2016 designs during London Fashion Week at the BFC show space on Brewer Street. The label was established in 2011 by Fyodor Podgorny and Golan Frydman, who are very expressionistic. They like to play with undertones and experimental cuts, concentrating on bold colors and digital like textures, which altogether form their design signature.
This collection, "Birth of Venus", is inspired by Pin Ups, German artist Nicole Wermers, textures, British artist (and now New York City resident) Oliver Michaels, the industrialization, Russian-American magazine editor, publisher, painter, photographer, sculptor Alexander Liberman and rhythm. The design duo created looks that appeared undone and wild with seams hanging loose and patterned net tights. Round cut-outs were decorated with bright colored plastic in different neon colors from a bright pink to a lime yellow.
A-line skirts with prints and ruffles were combined with tights and either a neon coloured blouse with a high collar or, with an even more creative approach, a sweater with a ruffled, taken apart, sleeve. Satin and velvet came together in a royal blue and black dress with bright green net tights and flat metallic shoes. V-backs could be seen (sometimes with ruffles), as well as pleats, round cut-outs, metallic embroidery, bell sleeves and asymmetric cuts. One highlight were the ruffled, two-toned trousers with a cropped satin top with one black ruffled sleeve. Another were the Coca Cola inspired designs, which could be seen on a blue satin coat and black and white satin long dress, which was paired with an oversized neoprene coat with a big collar and pockets.
