The Austrian label SPORTALM gave prove of having the ability to combine traditional and sporty designs at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin. The label presented its spring/summer 2017 collection on Wednesday and showed their varying facets.
In the beginning, eight models, who wore different dirndl walked down the runway and brought the Kitzbühel way of life to the Fashion Week. The designer Uli Ehrlich appreciates detailed designs as seen on the dirndl. Each of them had extravagant embroideries and ornaments on bodice and apron. As material for them Ehrlich chose delicate fabrics like silk-jacquard and lace, but hand printed cotton-wool and linen for the striving as well. The models entered the runway as a group which had an impressive effect and presented the dirndl one after another. All of them were kept in soft colours and pastel shades. They left the runway lagged to give the audience the opportunity to survey each dirndl in all its glory

Then the show continued with showing the label’s fashion and active line and it became clear, that the focus was set on wearable fashion on a high level. The styles of the different outfits could be determined as a mixture of elegant and sporty aspects. Airy dresses and coats, short pants, loose-fit pants, tunics and skirts gave the collection a carefree and summery character. Uli Ehrlich chose a wide colour palette for the spring/summer 17 collection. Strong green and shiny red-yellow were implied as well as soft crème colours and pink. Animal and floral prints, which have become a label’s feature invigorate the colour picture. The models’ make-up looked natural and their hair was slightly wavy to keep the focus on the different outfits. For the designer it is important to sell and to convey a comfortable feeling, besides producing suitable clothing for daily use. As one of the most successful fashion labels from Austria it’s her aim to guarantee quality.
Sportalm mastered it to declare international character to a label with traditional origins. Internationality and regionalism are reconciled without neglecting traditional features of the label.
