A few weeks ago, the British Fashion Council honored the most talented and successful designers at their annual British Fashion Awards ceremony. Comedian Jack Whitehall guided through this special evening with Karl Lagerfeld as the guest of honor, receiving the Outstanding Achievement Award. Anna Wintour gave a moving speech, saying: “Karl and I have shared many extraordinary moments over the years, and I'd gladly share a few of them with you, if it weren't for the fact that Karl, of all people, would be horrified. Why look back, when there is so much waiting for the future? More than anyone I know, he represents the soul of fashion: restless, bored looking, and voraciously attentive to our changing culture.”. Karl then, in his gorgeous German accent, humbly replied: ” First of all, thank you to whoever had the grand idea to give me this price. (…) I'm flattered that I got this award. Thank you so much.”
