PALMER//HARDING was launched in 2012 by Central Saint Martins trained Levi Palmer and Matthew Harding, with their brand specializing in the shirt. They experiment with pattern cutting and different draping techniques to create shirts that bridge the gap between wardrobe essential and modern statement

This London Fashion Week, for Spring/Summer 2017, Palmer and Harding state that "the (…) collection came to us quite naturallyit’s about working with what is happening in the everyday and allowing our surroundings the time to permeate into the work. As a result, we have never felt so free.”

The design duo was inspired by snippets of Matthew King’s artworkAmericana and a continued fascination with vaporwave music that resulted in designs that have different volumes and proportions than the classical shirt. It was a combination of loose shirts, belted sometimes, with asymmetric sleeves or an oversized cuffcascading hems and  wraparound details. King's Utah series' colour palette was seen in this collection with muted red, chambray, sky blue, navy, olive, cinnamon and sand being the key colors. Effortless chic that felt natural, not only through the colours, but through the fabrics as well, and made the entire collection feel comfortable, yet elegant.

Cotton poplin and chambrays were used mainly for the shirting, while micro-corduroy, water-repellent twill and fine, gauzy cotton knits added layers of intrigue as outerwear or versatile shawls. Skirts and trousers were cut with overlapping patterns which exposed the body underneath as you move. A mixture of limed oak and silver jewelry grounded the looks with a subtle nod to sea-worn wood and metal.
